PEOPLE MANAGEMENT: A CRITICAL REVIEW OF 35 YEARS OF THEORY AND PRACTICE

RISEBA welcomes you to the public lecture of John Robert Dobson “People management: a critical review of 35 years of theory and practice” that will take place on 20th October, at 10:00, at RISEBA (3 Meza Street, Riga), room 25.

This lecture considers how the theory and practice of people management has changed during the last 35 years. It commences with a discussion of the unitarism-pluralism debate on the nature of organisations and their implications for people management.  The lecture then examines distinctive characteristics of the labour market by looking at the relationship between employees and their employer and the management process, contrasting the problems of people management with labour economics and labour law perspectives.

John Robert Dobson teaches and researches industrial relations, labour economics and other issues connected with people management. You can find his CV here.
