About programme
The academic bachelor study programme “Architecture” is an international, contemporary
and competitive architecture study programme taught in English. The number of recognised local and foreign professionals from architecture and related fields together with the students make up the faculty’s multicultural community thus opening the gateway to the international careers in
architecture, urban planning, design or other interdisciplinary realms.

Study environment
Studies are held at RISEBA Architecture and Media Centre H2O 6.
Every year in spring second and third-year students undergo internships outside Latvia.

As from 2011 RISEBA offers a unique and truly international study programme in Architecture in English.
The best European and American educational standards of Architecture are integrated into this new study programme. By establishing a new course of Architecture studies RISEBA has taken the next step in accomplishing its mission: to become “THE GATEWAY TO AN INTERNATIONAL CAREER!”.

Entrance requirements
Entrance requirements for EU citizens
- centralized exams in English and Mathematics*
- entrance examination in drawing/spatial modeling
- interview and work portfolio (documentation of previously performed works reflecting a person’s individuality, creativity and capacity for work in any field and techniques (photo, cinema, music, dance, computer graphics, multimedia, design, installations, etc.)***.
*For those who have obtained secondary education until 2004, centralized exam certificates are not required. If a person has not passed the centralized exams, RISEBA will additionally organise entrance examinations in English.

Entrance requirements for non-EU citizens
Step 1: The candidate should submit the following documents:
- The candidate should submit his/her portfolio of creative work (drawings, paintings etc) reflecting the true interests and passion. Please send it as a PDF document not exceeding 5 MB
- Motivation letter in English
- CV in English
- Copies of diplomas from previous education
Step 2: If necessary, a Skype interview with the candidate will be arrayed. (optional)
Step 3: The board of the faculty will review all the portfolios and send acceptance or refusal a letter to the candidate not later than in 2 weeks.

- History and Theory of Architecture
- Humanities and Social Subjects

- Bachelor Thesis.
*Architecture students are encouraged to compose their curriculum by choosing additional study courses from the Creative and Business programmes.
The curriculum aims to integrate the knowledge of all these diverse, yet complementing domains. The main aspiration is to provide students with the ability to analytical thinking and problem solving: granting the knowledge, intellectual capacity and practical skills of interrelating apparently separate domains of the architectural realm of theory and practice.
The successive years of the curriculum are built upon one another in Architectural Design studies. Each academic year the curriculum aims to explore consequently more complex issues and scales of design problems as such:
