The Professional Master’s study programme “Public Relations and Digital Communication” is designed to promote the development of students’ creative potential, analytical abilities and digital skills, to ensure the practical application of theoretical knowledge and to prepare competent and competitive specialists according to the standard of the profession of strategic communication manager for work in companies, public administration and municipalities, non-governmental organisations both in Latvia and abroad.

The study programme develops competences of a strategic communication manager such as:

  • Innovatively plan, develop and manage public relations and communication strategies in line with organisational objectives;
  • conduct research, analyse, evaluate and improve public relations and communication activities;
  • manage the use of multimedia and modern technologies in communication;
  • anticipate crises and risks, manage a crisis communication team;
  • advise the organisation’s management on strategic communication issues;
  • initiate, plan and manage the work of the public relations unit, in coordination with the Head of the organisation and in liaison with the heads of other units in the organisation.

Distance learning takes the form of evening lectures, practical and interactive sessions. Classes are taught by academics and industry professionals.
Today’s changing public relations environment and the rapid growth in the use of digital technologies reinforce the importance of digital skills among professionals in the field, so the emphasis is on the latest developments in the theory and practice of the field, digital communication and digital transformation, as well as on courses that develop students’ creativity, promote a modern worldview and allow them to understand the variety of ways and methods of implementing public relations and communication.
As communication is international in small countries such as Latvia, the study programme takes full advantage of RISEBA’s international experience and attracts guest lecturers from abroad – the UK, the USA, Italy, Bosnia and Herzegovina and other countries.

Career opportunities

The programme is intended for potential managers of public relations / integrated
communications department, current leaders, professionals in the public relations field.
Graduates of the program can work in companies, public administration and local
governments, non-governmental organizations, as well as become entrepreneurs or
be self-employed.


Opportunities for further study

After graduation, a student can continue education in the doctoral programme “Business Management”.

Any student of the master’s programme who has completed at least one year of study can participate in the Erasmus+ exchange programme.
A student can go to study at one of RISEBA’s partner universities. The duration of study mobility is 2–12 months.
The student does not have to pay for the period spent in the study and internship exchange programme abroad; the tuition fee is covered by the partner university, but the student continues to pay the RISEBA tuition fee. For the period spent abroad during mobility, the student is awarded an Erasmus+ scholarship to cover the costs of transport and accommodation.
* Erasmus+ internship mobility provides that a student can undergo an internship in one of the companies of interest in one of the Erasmus+ programme countries. For this internship period, the student receives an Erasmus+ scholarship. The duration of internship mobility is 2–12 months.
