The year of the Anniversary has started
Founded in 1992 by seven Latvian companies coming together with The Manchester College of Arts and Technology (MANCAT), this year RISEBA University celebrates its 25 years.
As part of the 25th anniversary of RISEBA, on 19 October the conference “Best Practices in Management Education” took place at RISEBA Centre of Architecture and Media H2O 6. This conference was organised in the framework of the Erasmus+ Strategic Partnership project “Lead4Skills” bringing together 8 organizations from 12 countries. Its objective is to provide higher education institutions with management education that corresponds to current market needs. The conference concluded by offering its participants the opportunity to view RISEBA Repertory theatre’s play “Because He Can” directed by the Creative Director of the Audiovisual Media Arts study programme Aigars Ceplitis.
On Friday, 20 October the solemn meeting of Senate took place, in which the rector looked back on the achievements made during the last 25 years. During the ceremony, the title of honorary professor Honoris Causa was awarded to CEEMAN president Danica Purg and to the notable Latvian architect Andris Kronbergs.
Danica Purg received the title of honorary professor Honoris Causa for the advancement of business and management education in Central and Eastern Europe and other dynamic societies by instilling high educational standards, as well as for the promotion of responsible leadership and creative approach to education. Her innovative concept of Art in Leadership inspired RISEBA University to base its strategic development on the synergies between business and art.
Andris Kronbergs was awarded the title of honorary professor for his contribution in creating a new architecture school for RISEBA University of Business, Arts and Technology in Latvia and his influence on its professional contents.
The title of RISEBA honorary professor is granted by Senate for exceptional merit in science and/or development of higher education, major accomplishments in art and business management, as well as for significant contributions to the development of RISEBA. Dr. Ichak Adizes, the outstanding musician Mikhail Kazinik and professor Jamie Anderson are also among the honorary professors of RISEBA.
During this event, 45 employees who have been working in RISEBA University for more than 10, 15 and 20 years were also honoured. The portrait gallery of the University’s rectors was inaugurated; currently, it contains the portraits of RISEBA University’s first rectors Alexander Lebedev and Boris Kurov painted by professor Roberts Muzis. The contract with the 101st partner university, IMISP (International Management Institute of St. Petersburg), was signed, accompanied by many warm greetings and wishes form our guests on this special anniversary of the University.
After the formal part of the event, the guests attended the inauguration of the new RISEBA Architecture and Media Centre H2O 6 Aistere Hall, where the anniversary celebrations continued.
Students and graduates will meet on 14 December to enjoy a festive mood at the Christmas Ball and Alumni Reunion, as well as we will honour the best performances of this anniversary year at the already traditional “RISEBA Golden Awards 2017” Ceremony.
