TELIA Latvia and RISEBA University sign a cooperation agreement

At the beginning of this year, RISEBA started cooperation with Telia Latvia, within which the company's specialists will advise the students in the Bachelor's study programme "Audiovisual Media Arts" and the Master's study programme "Young Media and Audiovisual Art" on the use of the latest 360° video technologies and the distribution of video content within the global content supply network (Content Delivery Network).

Telia offers students a practical opportunity to use their 360° technology for creative ideas and study work, including the acquisition and use of Telia Cloud Solutions - the Telia Media Services CDN video platform for the secure storage of large volume video content, on-demand processing, and fast streaming.

"Just like RISEBA, the Telia innovation path is continuous. Therefore, we are glad to start cooperation with a modern university where the next audiovisual experts - directors, operators and producers - receive an education. I believe that it is our responsibility to prepare and provide students with the skills required in this specific and fast-growing industry. I am convinced that the students will benefit from the expertise of Telia professionals on 360° video broadcasting, the practical organisation and implementation of records," said Mikus Ozols, Chairman of the Board of Telia Latvia.
In turn, Janis Holsteins, Dean of the RISEBA Faculty of Media and Communication, is pleased with this cooperation fact, because Telia is a company supporting the latest technology and this is in perfect harmony with the strategic direction of the RISEBA Audiovisual Media Arts Programme, and the company has agreed to cooperate with RISEBA for a new project in Latvia that will address and connect the new video technology supporters, practitioners and theorists: "Another secret project, with its thematic setting, will be in some way unique in the Baltic and Nordic region. It will be publicly announced in the coming months, but its main activity will take place from 19-20 October 2018 at the Architecture and Media Centre H2O6, and the introductory event is already expected on 12 April this year. Expected project news will be available in the social media environment."

In addition to business and architecture programmes, RISEBA students are offered to acquire audiovisual media art, which is the only professional bachelor's degree programme in the audiovisual field in Latvia, as well as the only study programme in Latvia where television and film producer qualifications can be obtained.

Telia has been operating in Latvia since 1992 and is fully owned by Telia Company, the leading telecommunications company in the Nordic countries and the Baltics. Currently, Telia Latvia is the leader in cloud computing in Latvia, as well as the largest provider of global, high-performance content delivery (CDN) for streaming live video or video on demand.
