Application process

Before starting the on-line application procedure, please see the CHECKLIST below with some useful information.

STEP 1. CHOOSE THE RIGHT PROGRAMME

2023./2024. study year fees

STEP 2. CHECK THAT YOU MEET THE ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Check that you fulfil both the general requirements for studying at RISEBA, and the special requirements for the programme/specialization you are interested in. See entry requirements.

STEP 3. CHOOSE THE INTAKE

Summer intake 2023: until July 16th, 2023 (studies begin in September  2023). 

STEP 4. ONLINE APPLICATION

Online applications are submitted directly to RISEBA via our application platform Unimetis. Create an account, fill in the required information, upload the necessary documents. You can save your application anytime and come back to it later. You may find more information about the entry requirements and the list of the necessary documents here.
NOTE! We do overall assessment of all the complete applications that we receive. You will be notified on missing documents via application platform (if necessary). 

STEP 5. APPLICATION FEE

Invoice for the application fee will be issued via application platform. All applicants are required to pay the non-refundable application fee of 200 EUR* along with their application.

NOTE! The payer is responsible for paying all fees associated with the transfer (including possible bank commission) so that the final amount received by the university is 200 EUR*. In case application is postponed till the next intake application fee may be charged again (in separate situations).

STEP 6. ADMISSION TEST AND INTERVIEW

After the online registration and application fee invoice payment, you will be required to pass the online English test. This test is mandatory for all Bachelor and Master level students. You will receive test link, login, password and instructions on your email. The admission test must be submitted within three working days. You will be informed about the test results within five working days.

Additionally, all applicants from 3rd countries must do an online interview in English that will  be recorded and stored in RISEBA.

STEP 7. DOCUMENT VERIFICATION

Documents regarding your previous education will be transferred to Latvian Academic Information Centre for verification. 
NOTE! Document verification procedure might take up to 5 weeks. Admission process may be continued only in case AIC verification report is positive and confirms that applicant is eligible to study at RISEBA University.

STEP 8. TUITION FEE

Please find the tuition fees for foreign candidates of RISEBA University here.  
After a student has received a positive reply regarding the admission, RISEBA University will send a copy of the learning agreement and tuition fee invoice to the student. 
EU citizens can pay tuition fee in 2 or more instalments. Non-EU citizens shall transfer the tuition fee for the first study year in a full amount. Non-EU citizens shall additionally transfer a security deposit of EUR 500 (returned after completion of studies) and post services fee of 60 EUR (included in the tuition fee invoice).

STEP 9. VISA AND RESIDENCE PERMIT 

If requested, invitation number for visa is send to the student’s email within 5-7 working days. 

Upon arriving to Riga student is requesting the invitation number in the international office for submitting the document for the residence permit in Latvia. Invitation number is send to the student’s email accordingly within 5-7 working days. The list of the document to apply for the Latvian residence permit is available here.

Latvian residence permit is issued for the whole study period (Bachelor programmes – 4 years, Master programmes – 1,5-2 years, Doctoral programme – 3 years). It has to be prolonged annually. More information on this - at the RISEBA Foreign coordinator - [email protected].

NOTE! The University will issue the invitation letter for the student only after the tuition fees invoice will be paid. In special cases visa support may also be provided to your family members. 

 STEP 10. ACCOMODATION

Please note that a place in a dormitory must be booked in advance. Students are booking a place by themselves via phone or email.

 

STEP 11. LATVIAN STATE SCHOLARSHIP AND DISCOUNTS 

Check if you may apply for the Latvian state scholarship.
